Short Version:
Jackie Kashian has
a half-hour special on Comedy Central and has appeared on CBS, NBC,
and the Nationally syndicated Radio/TV show Bob And Tom. She has been a national touring comic for over 14 years and
has performed at the HBO Comedy Arts Festival, the Bumbershoot Arts
Festival in Seattle, Just for Laughs Festival in Montreal and has
toured Australia for the Melbourne International Comedy Festival Roadshow. This year she travelled to Kuwait and Iraq and performed for the troops.
Quick Press Quotes:
The LA Weekly, "Jackie Kashian is like the comic next door — if the comic next door is prone to acutely hilarious family stories" (her podcast - The Dork Forest is) "dependably entertaining."
ABC Australia: “The
gem of the night was Jackie Kashian. Her droll, perceptive description
of her family was hilarious.”
Minneapolis Star Tribune: “[her
comedy] is that rare, wonderful combination: smart and funny."
Long Version (still
in 3rd person):
Jackie's
First Time:
In 1985, Jackie got drunk and heckled Sam Kinison in Madison, Wisconsin.
She was told, by management, that open mike night was on Sundays.
Just three weeks later she did open mike. Proof that that was not a black out drunk night.
Jackie
on the Road:
She's been touring about 14 years. Jackie now makes her home in LA
and works the road about 25 weeks a year. This seems to be a good
balance of crime and sanity.
Jackie and the television with the moving pictures (and other media):
Jackie
has appeared on the nationally syndicated radio and TV show: Bob and Tom. She's been on ABC-Australia, Comedy Central, NBC, CBS, VH1, and A&E
(Comedy on the Road - back in the 1700's) and she filmed a small part
in Margaret Cho's movie Bam Bam and Celeste. In the late 1800's, she
played an airport cop on the last season of Murphy
Brown.

Jackie
and the PRESS:
Yes, there has been some good press. Thank you for asking.
The LA Weekly, "Jackie Kashian is like the comic next door — if the comic next door is prone to acutely hilarious family stories" (her podcast - The Dork Forest is) "dependably entertaining."
The
Minneapolis Star Tribune wrote the nicest thing, "Jackie Kashian's
comedy is that rare, wonderful combination: smart and funny."
From
ABC, "the gem of the night was Jackie Kashian. Her droll perceptive
description of her family was hilarious."
And
from Perth's newspaper The West Australian, called her "whipsmart."
Jackie
and the Theater (re):
Jackie
also has a couple solo shows.
"Salesmen and Thieves" and "How Did I Get So Feminine?"
The combination of these two shows is called "It's a Terrible
Burden Being Right." and has been performed in LA to great acclaim.
Hobbies and interests:
Jackie
enjoys video games, go-carts, hackysack, horseback riding and other
traditionally tiny-child activities in an ongoing attempt to block
out reality. Also; wicker gives her the creeps. Now you know.
Oh
and yes, the material is true. A caricature; her father likes to point
out. She is the youngest of six children and was raised by wolves.
Wolves that meant well and did their best.
